The Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs gave notice of her intention to make amendments to the List of Waste Management Activities that have, or are likely to have a Detrimental Effect on the Environment (published under GNR 718 of 3 July 2009) in terms of the National Environmental Management: Waste Act 59 of 2008 as set out in the schedule to GNR 1113 of 14 December 2010. Interested and affected parties were invited to submit written comments on the proposed amendments within 60 days of the publication of the notice (i.e. on or before 14 February 2011). We have compiled a table setting out a brief comparison between GNR 718 and the proposed amendments for ease of reference. In this regard, the link provided below can be selected in order to access same. It is important to note that GNR 1113 represents proposed amendments to GNR 718 only; consequently, GNR 718 remains applicable until such time as the proposed amendments come into force.
