The City of Cape Town enacted By-laws for Air Quality Management, which by-laws include provisions on the following aspects, namely:
- Interpretation and Fundamental Principles; - Duty of Care; - Designation of Air Quality Officers and Environmental Management Inspectors; - Local Emissions Standards, Norms and Standards and Smoke Control Zones; - Smoke Emissions from Premises other than Dwellings; - Smoke Emissions from Dwellings; - Emissions caused by Dust Emissions, Open Burning and Burning of Material; - Emissions from Compression Ignition Powered Vehicles; - Emissions that cause a Nuisance; - Pesticides and Crop Spraying; - Licensing of Listed Activities; - Offences and Penalties; and - General Matters.
The City of Cape Town Air Pollution Control By-law promulgated under Provincial Notice No. 12649 on 4 February 2003 is hereby repealed. See Provincial Gazette No. 6772 of 30 July 2010.

The City of Cape Town enacted By-laws for Treated Effluent, which by-laws include provisions on the following aspects, namely:
- Definitions and General Provisions; - Provisions relating to the Supply of Treated Effluent; - General Treated Effluent Installation Requirements; - Water Quality; - Health and Hygiene; - Plans Approval Procedure; - Installation by Plumbers; and - Good Use Practices.

The City of Cape Town enacted By-laws for Problem Buildings to provide for the identification, control and management of dilapidated and problem buildings in the City, which by-laws include provisions on the following aspects, namely:
- Application of the By-law; - Appointment of Authorised Officials; - Delegation; - Entry by Authorised Officials of Buildings and Land; - Declaration of a Building a Problem Building; - Compliance Notices and Service thereof; - Indemnity; and - Offences and Penalties.

The City of uMhlathuze amended the Environmental Health By-laws, which amendment relates to the discretion of the Environmental Health Practitioner. The amendment came into operation on the date of publication of the Notice. See Provincial Notice No. 57 of Provincial Gazette No. 465 of 1 July 2010.

The MEC: Agriculture, Environmental Affairs and Rural Development, KwaZulu-Natal declared the remainder of the Roselands farm situated in the province of KwaZulu-Natal and in the Richmond Local Municipality to be a Nature Reserve known as the Roselands Nature Reserve, as per the schedule to the notice. All South African standards that were previously published by the South African Bureau of Standards with the prefix "SABS" have been redesignated as South African National Standards and are now published by Standards South Africa (a division of SABS) with the prefix "SANS". The Notices provide for a list of SANS standards and their new codes together with the equivalent SABS numbers, where applicable, for sake of convenience. The Standards mentioned in the Schedules 1, 2 and 3 to the Notice have respectively been issued, amended and cancelled in terms of section 16(3) of this Act. Schedule 4 gives the addresses of the various SABS offices where copies of the standards mentioned in the notice can be obtained. The Health Professions Council of South Africa made the Rules relating to the registration by Medical Technologists of additional qualifications as set out in the schedule to the Notice. The Rules relating to the registration by Medical Technologists of additional qualifications published under Board Notice 3 in Government Gazette No. 21969 of 12 January 2001 are consequently repealed. The Health Professions Council of South Africa amended the Ethical Rules of Conduct for Practitioners Registered under the Health Professions Act, as reflected in the schedule to the notice. See Government Notice No. 654 of Government Gazette No. 33400 of 30 July 2010.

The Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs determined 2 August 2010 as the commencement date of the following Regulations, namely:
- Amendments to the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations, 2010 and Listing Notices 1 and 2 (GN. 660 of GG. 33411 of 30 July 2010); - Listing Notice 1, with the exception of Activities No. 19 and 20 in Appendix 1 (GN. 544 in GG. 33306 of 18 June 2010); - Listing Notice 2, with the exception of Activities No. 20 to 23 in Appendix 1 (GN. 545 in GG. 33306 of 18 June 2010); - Listing Notice 3, (GN. 546 in GG. 33306 of 18 June 2010); - Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations, 2010 (GN. 543 in GG. 33306 of 18 June 2010); - Environmental Management Framework Regulations, 2010 (GN. 547 in GG. 33306 of 18 June 2010).
It should be noted that the following regulations have been repealed as a result of the commencement of the abovementioned regulations:
- GNR 387 of 21 April 2006 has been repealed by Listing Notice 2; - GNR 386 of 21 April 2006 has been repealed by Listing Notice 1; and - EIA Regulations, 2006 (i.e. GNR 385 of 21 April 2006) have been repealed by the EIA Regulations, 2010.
