CCI clients can now benefit from CCI's Level 4 Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment Rating. CAMERON CROSS INC. BROAD-BASED BLACK ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT (BB-BEE) CONTRIBUTOR LEVEL AND POLICY
CCI operates in the Legal Services sector of the economy and is defined as an Exempt Micro Enterprise (EME) in terms of the BEE Codes of Good Practice approved by cabinet in December 2006. As such, CCI is accordingly allocated a BEE contributor level rating of Level 4 and any qualifying services by or purchases made from CCI can be claimed at the rate of 100%. In addition, the codes specify that Generic companies can earn an additional 3 points on their procurement scorecard by spending 10% of their total procurement with companies such as CCI.
However, CCI has elected to implement a BB-BEE policy which is driven by our own corporate value system and not to merely acquiesce to the minimum requirements imposed, or not, by law. The CCI BB-BEE policy is based on the following pillars of empowerment:
- Employment Equity o Appointments within CCI are guided by principles of affirmative action and are aimed to diversity in the CCI workplace; o CCI continually identifies and eliminate employment barriers, including unfair discrimination; o CCI aims to develop and ensure the equitably representation of suitably qualified HDI individuals in all occupational categories and levels in the CCI workforce.
- Skills Development o CCI aims to retain and develop HDI individuals in our workforce through skills and personal development; o CCI runs a R 12 000.00 p.a. bursary programme developing academic skills of promising HDI learners at High School level.
- Preferential Procurement o CCI procurement is limited to BB-BEE compliant companies.
- Enterprise Development o CCI provides where requested, free assistance to Black Empowered companies in the Environmental Management Sphere.
- Residual (corporate social investment) o CCI allocates an annual budget for social- and or charitable investment. The 2006 financial year focused on the KwaMhlanga Aids Hospice.
